The new 59,870 square foot Wahitis Elementary School is the first new construction school in Othello since the mid 1970’s.  The facility has 24 standard classrooms, as well as support space, commons area, and a full size gymnasium with both performance and practice courts.  The 15 acre site includes playfields, soccer field, competition baseball field, volleyball /basketball court, as well as a plaza with seat walls adjacent to the Library and Commons.

The school qualified for a grant through the Washington State Arts Commission (Art in Public Schools). The interior hallways are adorned with paintings, sculptures and installations that depict scenes of local history.  Much of it is installed on or integral with the masonry corridor walls.
