Richland Fire Station No. 74 is a 11,640 sf career fire station for the City of Richland. The design was developed from a prototype program and refined for the specific needs of the department. The project delivery is design/build, and involved close collaboration with the city project management team, fire department staff, general contractor and city agencies. Refinements to the design and program elements allowed a highly desired fourth apparatus bay to be added within the guaranteed maximum price. The station reflects design excellence in capturing the mid-century style befitting Richland’s history, while providing a contemporary flare for a relatively low cost per square foot – exemplifying positive stewardship. This collaboration between Architects West and Perlman Architects received a Fiero merit award.
