This new 9,500 sf station replaced an existing 1970’s vintage “pole building” station in which numerous safety hazards and code compliance issues had been identified. The new station was made possible by a federal A.R.R.A. grant with matching local funds. As a result, the station was designed to comply with strict federal standards and utilizes contemporary emergency response technology. In addition the station was designed to meet a LEED silver standard, although it was ultimately determined not to pursue certification.
